This is my very first all-over print long sleeve, and I’m honestly so excited about it.

The pattern was inspired by a vintage dress I found in an Amsterdam vintage shop - I actually bought it and fell in love with it right away. But living in Germany, it’s cold so much of the time that I rarely get to wear dresses, and I kept wishing I could have that same feeling in something I can reach for every day. So I decided to translate that dress into my own long sleeve shirt.

It’s a small floral (“millefleur”) design with lots of tiny flowers. I studied the dress and then repainted the motif to build a repeat pattern from it. And even though it looks simple at first glance, it was surprisingly challenging to paint - the flowers are so minimal that, as a realistic painter, I had to really hold back my instinct to perfect every detail. I kept them as simple as possible and let them blend into each other, so when you zoom out it becomes this cohesive, beautiful texture rather than a bunch of individual flowers.

The print sits in a soft green-brown tone, so it pairs effortlessly with neutrals and earthy colors. It’s made to feel special without stealing attention from the rest of your outfit - an everyday piece that still has that vintage feel built in.

And of course I called it Amsterdam Bloemenstraat, because Amsterdam is the city of flowers. It’s one of my absolute favorite places, and if you have ever visited it you know what I mean! It’s a smooth, stretchy long sleeve with a slim, comfortable fit, longer body and sleeves, and flat seams so it feels nice on the skin. It also offers protection from sun and wind which makes it great for everyday wear and being out and about.
