Natalie Portman Watercolor & Mixed Media Painting Process Video

"Nathalie Portman" // from Thor:Love and Thunder

Video Length: 2 h 40 min / real-time
Materials: Watercolor, Color Pencils & Gouache

One of the most beautiful actresses of all time, Nathalie Portman, is always a fascinating subject for a painting! Initially, I wanted to depict her in her role as the Black Swan but couldn’t find a good reference of her. I am excited to see how her costume and makeup will be in the new Thor: Love and Thunder movie - I bet there will be quite a few cool movie scenes to paint! 😊

In this real-time video, you will see my technique for painting very smooth skin with watercolors, color pencils, and a bit of white gouache for the highlights. The video has no voiceover, but you can see every single detail of the painting process! 🎨

Painting an Egyptian Inspired Alla Prima Oil Portrait Study

Video Length: 1 h 50 min / real-time (no narration)
Materials: Oils

In this painting process video I paint a small oil study on LANA Vanguard paper.🎨 The great thing with this paper is that you don’t have to prime it as it is made out of plastic. Although this makes it very slick it also allows for amazing brush textures. The study is painted alla prima and took me only about 2 hours so this video is great for everyone who doesn’t have much time but still wants to get some painting done!
As always this video comes with a material list, reference photo and sketch to print out! 😊

How to paint a Pallas Athene like Gustav Klimt but with Watercolors, Color Pencils and Gouache!

Video Length: 5 h 45 min / real-time (no narration)
Materials: Watercolors, Metallic Watercolors, Color Pencils, Gouache
Painted Parts shown in video: Face & Hair, Helmet, Right Tiger, Background Patterns

In this full-process painting video, you can watch me creating a reinterpretation of Gustav Klimt’s “Pallas Athene”. I used watercolors, color pencils, and gouache for this watercolor and mixed media painting. Klimt’s art is known for its heavy use of gold and precious materials, so I incorporated lots of golden watercolor paint in my artwork as well. This video shows the entire painting process from start to finish, and you can see how I painted the intricate background patterns, as well as one of the tigers, her shiny helmet, and of course, the portrait itself. The video comes without a voiceover, but you can learn a lot by observing and creating your own study. You can download my reference photo, a hi-res scan of my painting, my material list, and my sketch, which you can print out and with which you can follow along at your own pace.

In this painting process video you can watch me painting this commissioned artwork “Stargazer II”. The portrait painting part shows you my palette so you can see how I mix her skin-tones with acrylics. You can also see how I underpainted my panel with golden acrylics, download my reference photo, sketch to print out and get access to my material list! 🎨 🥰

Egyptian Inspired Watercolor & Mixed Media Painting Process Video

Egyptian Inspired Watercolor & Mixed Media Painting Process Video

I love to paint Ancient Egyptian inspired art, be it close to actual Egyptian looking models or more freely interpreted ones like this portrait! For this painting I used gouache, watercolors and color pencils and taped the borders of my paper to achieve a finished look. This way the watercolor painting is easy to frame and gets a qallery-like quality.
