In this full-process painting video, you can watch me creating a reinterpretation of Gustav Klimt’s “Pallas Athene”. I used watercolors, color pencils, and gouache for this watercolor and mixed media painting. Klimt’s art is known for its heavy use of gold and precious materials, so I incorporated lots of golden watercolor paint in my artwork as well. This video shows the entire painting process from start to finish, and you can see how I painted the intricate background patterns, as well as one of the tigers, her shiny helmet, and of course, the portrait itself. The video comes without a voiceover, but you can learn a lot by observing and creating your own study. You can download my reference photo, a hi-res scan of my painting, my material list, and my sketch, which you can print out and with which you can follow along at your own pace.

I decided to turn the full painting into a tutorial series for my patreon supporters!I t just made sense to split the painting process into several parts: the first painting lesson is about how to paint a tiger with watercolors, color pencils and gouache paint (Mixed Media)! The video lesson is one hour long and I guide you through the complete process of how I painted the big tiger portrait in the front! 😊🐅
